Missouri Families for Effective Autism Treatment
I actually met the director, Anne Roux, during an Autism 101 seminar held at our local Washington University campus. This was last spring when we had our suspicions, but no official diagnosis. I sat in this huge crowd and felt beyond overwhelmed. I left early, and I don't really remember how or why I started talking to Anne, but she was this breath of fresh air that I needed at the end of the evening. She was compassionate, and has probably heard the same story from countless parents but listened patiently as I talked about my son and how I saw so many signs. She let me know about her organization and how they provided support to families in Missouri. She took down my name and number and promised to send a Resource Directory. I received the Resource Directory a short time later and was amazed at the breadth of information!! This gave me my starting point, it got me out of panic mode and into action mode. I seriously still use the directory to this day. MO-FEAT provides this resource free of charge (but they are not-for-profit so donations are certainly appreciated). Please check them out!
